Education has always been part of the foundation of a community.  Education starts at home.  I want to promote family unity by expanding parent and kids programs and encouraging eating dinner together at the table. The core family values that shape the life of a child may not be taught in a classroom.  I am also concerned about administrative costs and not enough money being allocated to the classroom.  There is no reason why the Torrance Unified School District should ever suffer a shortage in funds to be spent in a classroom.  We need to allow the public to contribute towards maintaining and embellishing our schools by being able to actually pick up a brush and paint. Volunteer contractors should be able to build out a classroom without district supervision just inspections and guidelines. The TUSD and its success is a direct reflection of the hard work of the teachers, staff and above all the families that constantly dedicate time to their kids' education.

Who is running for Torrance City Council in 2014? As of today there are 12 prospective candidates that have filed papers showing their intent to run for office in Torrance. Only 5 of them have filed papers to form a committee. Among the five is Aurelio Mattucci. He has announced he is running back in July of 2012 just under two years prior to the election. Aurelio is a local business owner and he is focused on preserving the many beautiful things Torrance has to offer and fixing the things that aren't so perfect. Aurelio has always taken a hands on approach and wants to eliminate wasteful spending and strengthen our financial position for years to come. In the past couple of weeks we have had a surge of form 501 filings with the city clerk. Form 501 is basically your intent to run for office form. For now we have 11 people running for 3 seats. This number will most definetly change. I can imagine upwards of 20 candidates running since there may be a couple extra seats coming up. It is pretty clear that candidate Aurelio Mattucci has already hit the streets and met up with hundreds of business owners.
