Pat Furey, Mayor of Torrance, CA. will see some stiff competition in 2018

Current city of Torrance, CA Mayor Pat Furey, has already filed his papers to run in the June 2018 election, but not alone.  He has already been challenged by three other candidates, of which one of them is Tom Brewer, a former councilman with lots of supporters.  One must remember that in 2014, Pat Furey won with just a little over 40% of the votes.  This happens in Torrance, because we don't have a runoff election.  Whomever gets more votes, wins.  It is common knowledge that Tom Brewer lost because his votes were split between two Conservative candidates, Bill Sutherland, and himself.  Neither Tom, nor the local Conservatives, want to repeat another political flop like the one we had three years ago.  It is said that one of the mayoral candidates, Ron Riggs, has announced that he will drop out of the Mayor's race to leave an open path for fellow Conservative, Tom Brewer.

On the City Council side, we currently have Tim Goodrich, Kurt Weideman, and Aurelio Mattucci.  Ron Riggs may be joining the lineup soon.

Find out who has filed their papers by visiting http://www.torrancevotes.org/campaign-finance-disclosures.html

California Highway Patrol tried to stop me from filming Cal-trans Maintenance Shortfalls

An officer from the California Highway Patrol tried to stop me from filming an off ramp, even though I explained to him that I was filming for the purpose of exposing how Cal-trans is not maintaining off ramps as they should.

Coyotes on killing spree in Torrance California

Coyotes can't stay in our neighborhoods. They have killed hundreds of pets, and have altered our peaceful way of life.  I have friends that will no longer go for a walk in the park. People that will not let their children play in the backyard. Residents that boarded up their pet doors. It's time to take drastic steps towards eliminating the threat.  Public safety is more important than being forced to co-exist with Coyotes. Our city has the right to trap.  So why are we being forced to co-exist.  Let's not wait until something horrible happens.  I fully understand the argument about wildlife protection, and they were here before us, etc.  But, we have a responsibility towards the safety of our residents and businesses.  We can't be held hostage inside our own homes.  Coyotes reproduce quickly and in large number, and without any know predator in nature, they will eventually become so many in numbers, that humans will also be on the menu.  We already have reports of young children being attacked and dragged away from their parents in the Los Angeles area. Enough is enough.

From an article:
“It was a child, about approximately 2 years old, was in the garage. They opened the garage up and the coyote came in and actually got the child on the neck area and part of the cheek,” California Department of Fish and Wildlife Lt. Kent Smirl told ABC’s Los Angeles station KABC.

Aurelio Mattucci may actually run for Torrance City Council in 2018

Local small business owner and the founder of the Unified Small Business Alliance has mentioned his desire to run again for Torrance City Council in the 2018 election.  He came in in 9th place out of the 16 candidates.  Since then Aurelio has built a strong following and has proven to be a local leader with local concerns.  In February of 2016, he was appointed to the newly formed Social Services Commission in the City of Torrance.  In an interview with a local blogger, Aurelio Mattucci mentioned his concern for transparency in government, and the fact that Torrance is slowly deteriorating.
He is a Conservative, with a passion for public service.

Mattucci Means Business: The Best Candidate for Torrance City Council

Torrance City Council Candidate Aurelio Mattucci is ready to take office and take charge. His plan for the business development of Torrance includes bringing in new business and supporting the small or large businesses already here.

Mattucci is a man who personally gets involved with helping the community and listening to business owners. He founded a non-profit all volunteer organization, The Mattucci Project, that is dedicated to beautifying Torrance, one lot at a time. The Mattucci Project volunteers, Aurelio included, go to homes or businesses in need to clear away trash, weeds, debris, to trim overgrowth and generally improve the appearance of the property.

In addition to literally getting his hands dirty with unglamorous hard work, Aurelio Mattucci has taken the time to get to know his neighbors and fellow businesspeople. Over the past 3 years he has visited over 3,800 businesses to hear individual needs and concerns, asking “What would you like improved in the city?” He heard every answer and is committed to addressing all those concerns when elected to Torrance City Council.

Supporting business, improving curb appealprotecting families and being responsible with budgeting are high priority issues for Aurelio Mattucci, just as these are important to all those who live, work or play in the City of Torrance, California.
