Torrance Offers Something For Everyone

The City of Torrance, California is one of those rare family friendly communities where people get involved, neighbors know each other and there are a wide range of events and activities available at any moment.  This is one of the many reasons City Council candidate Aurelio Mattucci is running for office - to get involved and stay involved to promote Public Safety, Education, responsible Budget management and enhancing the city’s natural beauty with regular Curb Appeal maintenance and care.

There are dozens of activities and events happening in Torrance throughout the month of April to inform, entertain, educate and promote good health for Torrance residents and families.  Voters can meet candidates in the upcoming city election at open public forums. Foodies can find great fresh foods at the Torrance Certified Farmer’s Market. Nature lovers can enjoy bird watching and more or volunteer for habitat preservation efforts at theMadrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve.

April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month and Torrance Dental Arts is offering FREE oral cancer screenings throughout the month of April, Mondays-Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Book lovers of all ages can find likeminded readers at a number of story time events at local libraries. The Teen Spring Fling invites teens to enjoy a candy hunt and other games at the Henderson Library on Monday, April 14. Kids, parents and caregivers can enjoy a relaxing Pajama-Rama Evening Storytime at both the Walteria Library and North Torrance Library. Throw on your pjs, bring a pillow and curl up for a great story with the whole family! Visit the Community Calendar for a complete list of Torrance library events.

Arts and music fans can enjoy a variety of concerts and performances at the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation. Friday, April 18 features a concert from Allan Harris, a 3 time winner of New York Nightlife’s “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist” and the man whom Tony Bennett has called, “my favorite singer.”

These are all just a small sampling of the range of activities to be found in Torrance and one of the many reasons candidate Mattucci has loved living here for the past 36 years.
