City of Torrance Election 2014 - VOTE Aurelio Mattucci

In less than three weeks the voters of Torrance will choose their future representatives. If you truly want positive changes to happen, then you need to cut the chains that connect us to current and past administrations. Same Blood line, ...same results. You may or may not believe Torrance will go bankrupt in the near future. All I can base my theory on is the budget itself. The so called solution will never work because we are not hiring enough new people and the "new" contributions are not enough to fill the $400 million dollar void. The fact that our city has to dip into reserve accounts to pay bills is a fact that leads me to believe we have an issue. The biggest issue facing us right now is the unfunded pension liabilities. I have heard some people say I don't care about the city workers. That couldn't farther than the truth. The fact I want to stop the bleeding is a good example of an attempt to save the jobs. My plan is to start from the highest paid positions and work our way down. I don't want to take away pensions or push our work force out of the city. I want to see why we have overtime pay that sometimes exceeds the base salary of an employee. I want to see what added benefits we are offering that employees could do without. I'd also like to see a transparent itemized list of "Added Benefits" offered to some of our highest paid employees in the State. I understand we need to offer careers and not just jobs, but the truth is we can't afford to stay on track with what is there now. I can't except the fact that our streets and sidewalks have been neglected for decades and we (the citizens of Torrance) have to wait around for the economy to pick up. Last time I checked we have not been in a 50 year recession. Let's hold our politicians accountable for their promises and let's make sure our tax dollars are truly at work for the general well being of the public and not just a few individuals. I love my city, many of my friends work in city hall. I want to help retain these jobs, offer careers and still maintain our city as it should be. We can find the balance only if we work together as a team. The public must vote, and speak up. After all, the city belongs to you.
I ask for your vote, not for a political seat but for the representative that you deserve.

Which Candidate Cares Most About Torrance, California?

Wondering “Who should I vote for in the Torrance election?” There is one candidate who has devoted his life, hard work and real sweat to improving and maintaing the beauty and safety of Torrance. A family man with a long and successful real estate career, Aurelio Mattucci is passionate about community involvement, volunteerism and that all important first impression of Curb Appeal.

As a realtor, Mattucci understands that the upkeep and overall appearance of a property and community has a direct impact on whether or not a family or business wants to move there. He is committed to attracting small and big businesses to Torrance and keeping them here to provide income and security for Torrance families.  A great looking city is the first factor in desirability and Mattucci is concerned that the curb appeal in Torrance is slipping. “I see a lot of weeds, broken sidewalks, deteriorating streets and properties that look abandoned. I'd like to revamp our city with the help of volunteers and property owners.” he has stated on his campaign website.

With volunteerism and personal responsibility as a core belief, Mattucci founded The Mattucci Project, an all volunteer organization that gives back to the community by literally cleaning it up. Mattucci can often be seen on a weekend afternoon in a neon vest picking up trash on the side of the road.  The Mattucci Project will come to any home or business where the owner is in need of assistance with maintaining the property. The volunteers will clear away trash, pull weeds, trim brush and whatever is needed to restore or boost a property’s curb appeal. This is the candidate who truly cares about the city of Torrance.

Aside from just making Torrance a more beautiful and peaceful place to live with his curb appeal philosophy, Mattucci is deeply invested in creating a business friendly environment where business can thrive.  Over the past two years, he has personally visited over 3,800 business owners to ask, “What would you like improved in the city?”  Their answers and concerns have helped to shape his Business Development Plan focused on attracting new business and supporting those already here so that they can flourish and not just scrape by to survive. A healthy business environment benefits everyone tied to Torrance.

For anyone still asking “Who should I vote for in the Torrance City Council election?” there is one strong choice, Aurelio Mattucci.

Aurelio Mattucci for Torrance City Council Election 2014

Today I spent a beautiful day with the family. A good change from the daily grind. Campaigning has taken a lot from me. The most difficult is not having much time to spend with my wife and son. The good thing is that in the last two years I have met some of the most amazing people on earth. I am amazed as to how dedicated many of my supporters are towards a victory. I am thankful I have a very supportive wife, a son that jumps on me and smothers me with love no matter how long I was gone, and a solid base of supporters that I consider my friends. As I mentioned on a radio show just a couple days ago, "Campaigning is an emotional roller coaster, the good thing is that I can always count on my wife to be there on ground level". I am moving forward full steam and I believe Torrance will continue to be a wonderful city for many generations to come.
As your council member I will continue to listen to your concerns and address them, I will work with my fellow council members and always look forward and find solutions, I will make sure I fully educate myself on the subject before voting on it, I will listen to both sides and make decisions based on the well being of the general public, I will represent the people of Torrance as a whole, I will stand strong as I believe the people that will elect me expect nothing less, I will not disappear the day after the election.
If given the opportunity, I would be honored to represent you as your next council member.

Aurelio Mattucci lived in Torrance 11 years

As the profiles get posted, the questions start coming.
Today I was asked about my residence history and challenged on the fact that I have lived in Torrance for 11 years.
Here is my story...
I originally moved to Torrance in 1977 at the age of 6 and attended 5 years of Seaside Elementary School.  We later moved back to Italy for three years and soon enough moved back to Torrance as we realized Italy was no longer for us.  That is when I enrolled at South High School. The family only after a couple of years moved to South Redondo Beach where my parents built their dream home and it's where they continue to live to this day.  As for myself I didn't move back to Torrance until 2003 (old Torrance).  I later moved to San Pedro and lived in a three unit building that we owned.  After getting married and getting pregnant with our first child, we decided to raise our family where we felt most comfortable and at home, Torrance.  Torrance is my home, it's where I spent my early childhood years, it's where I learned my first English words, it's the place I first rode a skateboard and fell off of one as well.  Torrance has given me everything a person could ever want and all I want to do is give something back.

Candidate: Aurelio Mattucci
Mission
Public safety and economic stability are among my priorities. I want the city to be fiscally responsible and do what it can to cut wasteful spending. I do believe in energy conservation and helping both home owners and businesses save money on utilities without imposing additional restrictions on them. I do believe we need to plant more trees in our residential neighborhoods and make our commercial areas more desirable to new business growth. We need to fill up our commercial vacancies by offering new businesses true incentives and help out our many existing and loyal small businesses succeed and not just survive. We need to be truly business friendly and not just say we are. We also need to streamline permits and plan check process to encourage new business. I do hope I can get your support and the support of your friends and family. I want to help maintain and promote family unity and the safety of all the families that live in this wonderful city.

Description
I am a candidate for Torrance City Council. Running for office has been a long time dream of mine. I have never been more motivated in achieving this endeavor. I feel that in order to truly make positive changes in our city one must make them as a whole, work together and get involved at all levels. These are challenging times for us, as a country and as a city, with the redevelopment funds gon...e, we are facing the same fate as many other municipalities , loss of businesses that directly translate to less revenue for our city, loss of local jobs and more of our families losing their homes. Less revenue for the city means the potential loss of many programs, services and activities that have shaped Torrance throughout the years. It's not a matter of Right or Left, it's a matter of Right or Wrong. I will do what is Right for the people of Torrance. I will listen to your concerns and suggestions. I will be truly a public servant, serving the people of Torrance and the many businesses that help support and maintain this wonderful city that I am proud to say is my home.

Aurelio Mattucci's message to City of Torrance Residents and Businesses

Aurelio Mattucci's message to City of Torrance Residents and Businesses
It has been over a year since I decided to run for Torrance City Council here in Torrance.  My goal is to make sure that the people of Torrance run the City and not the other way around.  I believe in our democratic system and I still believe that our vote counts.  The plan is simple, make sure you have the people's best interest at heart and you will always make the right decision.  We must eliminate the wasteful spending and make sure we do not fund programs that benefit a few, yet burden many.

Mayor Frank Scotto openly showing support for Heidi Ashcraft

City of Torrance, Mayor Frank Scotto has openly shown support for Torrance City Council candidate Heidi Ashcraft.  He showed up at her campaign kick off and was even the center piece to her campaign flyer.  I was told that the Mayor would not endorse any of the candidates until the filing period ends in March.  It is obvious that is not the case.  I don't personally know Heidi Ashcraft but she seems like a nice lady.  All of the candidates have something good to bring to the table. The question is, "Which candidates do the voters of Torrance trust most?"
It will be interesting to see what happens come June 3, 2014.  After all the voters have the future of this city in their hands, as it should be.
Get out and vote.  Your vote does count and I do hope I can get your support come election day.

Torrance City Council to appoint new City Council member on December 17th

Today I submitted my application with the City Clerk for my chance to get appointed to Torrance City Council.  The City Council will be voting to appoint a new member on December 17th at the regularly scheduled council meeting at city hall.  There may be quite a bit of prospective candidates and many may already be candidates like myself.  The appointment process is spelled out in the city's bylaws and according to Councilman Pat Furey, the appointment must be done within a certain time of that seat being vacated. The seat is the one that Cliff Numark vacated just last month.  Regardless of who they choose, that person will have to be elected by the voters of Torrance in the upcoming municipal election of June 3, 2014.  It would be an honor to be appointed but an even larger honor to be elected.
Well, my name is in.
Thank you to the many supporters.
