Pat Furey, Mayor of Torrance, CA. will see some stiff competition in 2018

Current city of Torrance, CA Mayor Pat Furey, has already filed his papers to run in the June 2018 election, but not alone.  He has already been challenged by three other candidates, of which one of them is Tom Brewer, a former councilman with lots of supporters.  One must remember that in 2014, Pat Furey won with just a little over 40% of the votes.  This happens in Torrance, because we don't have a runoff election.  Whomever gets more votes, wins.  It is common knowledge that Tom Brewer lost because his votes were split between two Conservative candidates, Bill Sutherland, and himself.  Neither Tom, nor the local Conservatives, want to repeat another political flop like the one we had three years ago.  It is said that one of the mayoral candidates, Ron Riggs, has announced that he will drop out of the Mayor's race to leave an open path for fellow Conservative, Tom Brewer.

On the City Council side, we currently have Tim Goodrich, Kurt Weideman, and Aurelio Mattucci.  Ron Riggs may be joining the lineup soon.

Find out who has filed their papers by visiting http://www.torrancevotes.org/campaign-finance-disclosures.html

Which Candidate Cares Most About Torrance, California?

Wondering “Who should I vote for in the Torrance election?” There is one candidate who has devoted his life, hard work and real sweat to improving and maintaing the beauty and safety of Torrance. A family man with a long and successful real estate career, Aurelio Mattucci is passionate about community involvement, volunteerism and that all important first impression of Curb Appeal.

As a realtor, Mattucci understands that the upkeep and overall appearance of a property and community has a direct impact on whether or not a family or business wants to move there. He is committed to attracting small and big businesses to Torrance and keeping them here to provide income and security for Torrance families.  A great looking city is the first factor in desirability and Mattucci is concerned that the curb appeal in Torrance is slipping. “I see a lot of weeds, broken sidewalks, deteriorating streets and properties that look abandoned. I'd like to revamp our city with the help of volunteers and property owners.” he has stated on his campaign website.

With volunteerism and personal responsibility as a core belief, Mattucci founded The Mattucci Project, an all volunteer organization that gives back to the community by literally cleaning it up. Mattucci can often be seen on a weekend afternoon in a neon vest picking up trash on the side of the road.  The Mattucci Project will come to any home or business where the owner is in need of assistance with maintaining the property. The volunteers will clear away trash, pull weeds, trim brush and whatever is needed to restore or boost a property’s curb appeal. This is the candidate who truly cares about the city of Torrance.

Aside from just making Torrance a more beautiful and peaceful place to live with his curb appeal philosophy, Mattucci is deeply invested in creating a business friendly environment where business can thrive.  Over the past two years, he has personally visited over 3,800 business owners to ask, “What would you like improved in the city?”  Their answers and concerns have helped to shape his Business Development Plan focused on attracting new business and supporting those already here so that they can flourish and not just scrape by to survive. A healthy business environment benefits everyone tied to Torrance.

For anyone still asking “Who should I vote for in the Torrance City Council election?” there is one strong choice, Aurelio Mattucci.

Aurelio Mattucci lived in Torrance 11 years

As the profiles get posted, the questions start coming.
Today I was asked about my residence history and challenged on the fact that I have lived in Torrance for 11 years.
Here is my story...
I originally moved to Torrance in 1977 at the age of 6 and attended 5 years of Seaside Elementary School.  We later moved back to Italy for three years and soon enough moved back to Torrance as we realized Italy was no longer for us.  That is when I enrolled at South High School. The family only after a couple of years moved to South Redondo Beach where my parents built their dream home and it's where they continue to live to this day.  As for myself I didn't move back to Torrance until 2003 (old Torrance).  I later moved to San Pedro and lived in a three unit building that we owned.  After getting married and getting pregnant with our first child, we decided to raise our family where we felt most comfortable and at home, Torrance.  Torrance is my home, it's where I spent my early childhood years, it's where I learned my first English words, it's the place I first rode a skateboard and fell off of one as well.  Torrance has given me everything a person could ever want and all I want to do is give something back.

Torrance City Council to appoint new City Council member on December 17th

Today I submitted my application with the City Clerk for my chance to get appointed to Torrance City Council.  The City Council will be voting to appoint a new member on December 17th at the regularly scheduled council meeting at city hall.  There may be quite a bit of prospective candidates and many may already be candidates like myself.  The appointment process is spelled out in the city's bylaws and according to Councilman Pat Furey, the appointment must be done within a certain time of that seat being vacated. The seat is the one that Cliff Numark vacated just last month.  Regardless of who they choose, that person will have to be elected by the voters of Torrance in the upcoming municipal election of June 3, 2014.  It would be an honor to be appointed but an even larger honor to be elected.
Well, my name is in.
Thank you to the many supporters.

Who is most likely to win the Mayor's seat in the 2014 Torrance Election?

Who is most likely to win the Mayor's seat in the 2014 Torrance Election?
This is a very difficult question. Having personally met all three of the current Mayor candidates Tom Brewer, Bill Sutherland and Pat Furey, it will pretty much be a toss.  They are all current City Council members, they are all very qualified, they have all taken part of the success Torrance has had in keeping a balanced budget. It will boil down to personality and name recognition. I personally believe Tom Brewer has started his campaigning late in the game but has enough time to catch up and take the seat. Bill Sutherland has been very active at ribbon cuttings and public appearances which will put him in front of the cameras. Pat Furey although he hasn't been seen much at public events, he is still working key groups to gain support. Ultimately I am confident that the people of Torrance will vote the best fit for the task at hand. As for myself, I am a candidate for the Torrance City Council and wish to gain your support.

Where are the Mayor Candidates for Torrance?

Where are the Mayor Candidates for Torrance?
I have been campaigning for a year now and I personally feel I have very little time to do what I need to do.
My big question is.... What are the Mayor candidates doing to win this election? I know it's early in the race but Torrance is a big city with 75,000+ registered voters and I don't see much presence.  I am new to the political arena but I am not new to marketing and what I predict is that Tom Brewer will be too far behind, Pat Furey will rely mostly on social media and Bill Sutherland may actually take the cake as he is present at many functions I personally go to. Funny thing is that I like all 3 of the candidates. They all have something to offer the people of Torrance and it's mostly due to the fact they are already councilmembers and have served our community well. I will leave it up to the voters to elect one of the three. As four me, just mark the box where you see the name "Aurelio Mattucci" ;)
I do appreciate the much support I have been getting and I am confident that if I continue with the momentum I have I will win one of the four seats in City Council, but I can't do this alone. I will need you to help.
Thank you,
Aurelio Mattucci
