City of Torrance Issues
Some of the issues I am most concerned about is public safety, especially in North Torrance. I believe we need to invest in our security and open a North Torrance Police Station. This would save on fuel and time. Having a North Torrance Police Station would also potentially cut down on response time. We also have to encourage more public involvement in preventing crime. Another issue I see is the parking situation in Old Torrance. As much as there is parking on the outskirts the issue stands on Sartori. I have met with many Downtown business owners and they all complain that the cars parked there are not shoppers. I agree, the spaces are being filled by employees and possibly residents from the condo complex. Other issues I see is the curb appeal. I have documented dozens of troubled locations including Hawthorne Blvd in Walteria. There is no reason weeds need to rule our City Landscape. I also plan on proposing a Clean City Ordinance that would allow the City to act on Eye Sore and troubled properties. It is not a way to punish property owners, it is an ordinance that would actually help the community and would be run strictly by volunteers.
