Who to Vote for in Torrance Election

Torrance voters looking for the city council candidate with their best interests in mind should take a look at Aurelio Mattucci.  Click on his Candidate Statement to hear Aurelio outline his priorities and concerns for the City of Torrance that he calls home.

Mattucci is a local small businessman and father with long term ties to Torrance. He is not a career politician or political insider. His focus for the future of Torrance is on public safety, education, responsible, prioritized budgeting and maintaining the beauty and curb appeal of the city.

In Aurelio Mattucci's video speech, he is articulate, intelligent and passionate. Clearly a devoted family man, Mattucci presents a trustworthy demeanor and positive attitude that is reassuring and appealing. Mattucci believes in getting personally involved and has met with over 3,800 business owners and thousands more residents over the past three years. With his volunteer organization, The Mattucci Project, Aurelio has personally done the work to haul away 10 tons of trash and weeds from local businesses and residences in need.

Mattucci Means What He Says

Torrance City Council candidate Aurelio Mattucci has always been a hands on individual willing to take action. One of Mattucci’s campaign concerns is the “curb appeal” of Torrance and working to preserve and promote the beauty of our South Bay city. According to a recent statement on his campaign website, Mattucci is even ready to repave neglected streets with his own two hands.

“If elected, I will push for a plan that would take care of the most effected areas first. The areas that have been abandoned by City Hall will get their streets repaved if I have to go out and shovel tar myself.” wrote Mattucci. Chances are, he means it.

For the past three years, Aurelio has spearheaded The Mattucci Project, an all volunteer organization that cleans up yards and sidewalks for homes or businesses that are unable to do so. The Mattucci Project volunteers clear away brush and debris, trim overgrowth, pull weeds and cart away trash. With a focus on locations where the owner is financially or physically incapable of managing a property’s maintenance alone, the Mattucci Project will provide their invaluable time and energy to anyone in need.

Mattucci is taking City Hall to task on this issue of caring for our streets, calling for an end to the “5 year plan” excuse. “No more empty promises,” says Mattucci, “…stop telling us, ‘There's No Money’. The money is there if we use our money on PRIORITIES. If you want things to change, the voters need to cut the chains that connect us to current and past administrations and get off to a fresh start.” Mattucci pledges to be a “hands on candidate that will get things done.” Given that he already has a proven track record of not being afraid to do the actual dirty work himself, voters can believe that when Mattucci says he will get something done, it gets done.

Two Weeks Until Election Day! Do You Know Where to Go?

Make sure you know where to vote for Torrance City Council candidate Aurelio Mattucci.
The Los Angeles County Registrar’s office has made it easy to find your polling place and see a sample ballot at any time before the June 3rd election.

Just visit www.lavote.net/LOCATOR/ and enter your home address to find your voting location and to view a sample ballot for your district.

The June 3rd election covers several key races for the City of Torrance and primaries for the State of California. This is a crucial election day since the ballots are consolidated to include primary nomination voting for the state’s highest offices and general election final selections for local city offices. This means there is another general election day November 4th to choose between the top two candidates for statewide offices. Local city contests, however, will be decided on June 3rd. In other words, June 3rd is your only chance to vote for Aurelio Mattucci for Torrance City Council! Don’t miss the opportunity to make a choice that supports the future of Torrance business and families.

The races that will be decided on June 3rd are:
  • County Board of Supervisors Sheriff
  • Assessor
  • Superior Court Judge
  • Local districts or city contests
The voter-nomination primary races to vote for on June 3rd are:
  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Secretary of State
  • Controller
  • Treasurer
  • Attorney General
  • Insurance Commissioner Board of Equalization
  • United States Representative State Senator
  • State Assembly Member
In 2010, California voters decided on a new “Top Two” primary system. This new system puts all candidates on every ballot regardless of political party affiliation. Any voter can vote for any candidate from any party. The candidates receiving the two highest number of votes in each race will move on to the November General Election. This can mean that there may even be two candidates from the same party vying for the same office. The “Top Two” system puts more power in the hands of voters, because the nominations are truly decided by the voters and not the parties. In a state like California where there are several prominent political parties, this new system allows for a wider freedom to choose the candidate that best represents your concerns.

City Council elections are not defined by partisan affiliations.

View your sample ballot to see all items on the ballot and to read statements from candidates such as Aurelio Mattucci.

The Candidate Taking Care of Torrance Business

Many concerned Torrance voters are probably asking, “Who should I vote for in the June 3rd Torrance election?” “What are the most important qualities in an outstanding City Councilperson?” Given recent abuses of power in nearby cities like Bell, one major concern when electing any city official is, “Do they have the city’s best interests at heart?” “How will my city councilperson handle the financial responsibility?”

For one Torrance City Council candidate, responsible budgeting practices is a huge priority.  Aurelio Mattucci believes in a conservative approach to spending that prioritizes necessity over popularity. With an eye on the future impact of today’s budgeting decisions, Mattucci will “make sure the tax payers are also in the decision process and not unilaterally make decisions that benefit a few and burden all.”

Responsible budgeting also falls in line with Mattucci’s additional concerns of public safetyeducation and maintaining the beauty of Torrance. When all of these areas are well managed, Mattucci hopes that new businesses will be attracted to set up shop in Torrance and that the businesses already here will have the opportunity to thrive and not just survive. He has created a significant business development plan to support local business interests and promote prosperity.

By focusing spending on the police department to keep our families safe, on our schools to ensure our children have the best advantages for a successful future and helping businesses to become and stay successful here, Torrance City Council candidate Aurelio Mattucci is the candidate who will really take care of Torrance's needs.

City of Torrance Election 2014 - VOTE Aurelio Mattucci

In less than three weeks the voters of Torrance will choose their future representatives. If you truly want positive changes to happen, then you need to cut the chains that connect us to current and past administrations. Same Blood line, ...same results. You may or may not believe Torrance will go bankrupt in the near future. All I can base my theory on is the budget itself. The so called solution will never work because we are not hiring enough new people and the "new" contributions are not enough to fill the $400 million dollar void. The fact that our city has to dip into reserve accounts to pay bills is a fact that leads me to believe we have an issue. The biggest issue facing us right now is the unfunded pension liabilities. I have heard some people say I don't care about the city workers. That couldn't farther than the truth. The fact I want to stop the bleeding is a good example of an attempt to save the jobs. My plan is to start from the highest paid positions and work our way down. I don't want to take away pensions or push our work force out of the city. I want to see why we have overtime pay that sometimes exceeds the base salary of an employee. I want to see what added benefits we are offering that employees could do without. I'd also like to see a transparent itemized list of "Added Benefits" offered to some of our highest paid employees in the State. I understand we need to offer careers and not just jobs, but the truth is we can't afford to stay on track with what is there now. I can't except the fact that our streets and sidewalks have been neglected for decades and we (the citizens of Torrance) have to wait around for the economy to pick up. Last time I checked we have not been in a 50 year recession. Let's hold our politicians accountable for their promises and let's make sure our tax dollars are truly at work for the general well being of the public and not just a few individuals. I love my city, many of my friends work in city hall. I want to help retain these jobs, offer careers and still maintain our city as it should be. We can find the balance only if we work together as a team. The public must vote, and speak up. After all, the city belongs to you.
I ask for your vote, not for a political seat but for the representative that you deserve.

Which Candidate Cares Most About Torrance, California?

Wondering “Who should I vote for in the Torrance election?” There is one candidate who has devoted his life, hard work and real sweat to improving and maintaing the beauty and safety of Torrance. A family man with a long and successful real estate career, Aurelio Mattucci is passionate about community involvement, volunteerism and that all important first impression of Curb Appeal.

As a realtor, Mattucci understands that the upkeep and overall appearance of a property and community has a direct impact on whether or not a family or business wants to move there. He is committed to attracting small and big businesses to Torrance and keeping them here to provide income and security for Torrance families.  A great looking city is the first factor in desirability and Mattucci is concerned that the curb appeal in Torrance is slipping. “I see a lot of weeds, broken sidewalks, deteriorating streets and properties that look abandoned. I'd like to revamp our city with the help of volunteers and property owners.” he has stated on his campaign website.

With volunteerism and personal responsibility as a core belief, Mattucci founded The Mattucci Project, an all volunteer organization that gives back to the community by literally cleaning it up. Mattucci can often be seen on a weekend afternoon in a neon vest picking up trash on the side of the road.  The Mattucci Project will come to any home or business where the owner is in need of assistance with maintaining the property. The volunteers will clear away trash, pull weeds, trim brush and whatever is needed to restore or boost a property’s curb appeal. This is the candidate who truly cares about the city of Torrance.

Aside from just making Torrance a more beautiful and peaceful place to live with his curb appeal philosophy, Mattucci is deeply invested in creating a business friendly environment where business can thrive.  Over the past two years, he has personally visited over 3,800 business owners to ask, “What would you like improved in the city?”  Their answers and concerns have helped to shape his Business Development Plan focused on attracting new business and supporting those already here so that they can flourish and not just scrape by to survive. A healthy business environment benefits everyone tied to Torrance.

For anyone still asking “Who should I vote for in the Torrance City Council election?” there is one strong choice, Aurelio Mattucci.
